Sampson and Josie are not service dogs in the sense of the true definition, however in my world they serve in multiple ways. Without these lovable animals in my life I would likely not walk every single day, rain, snow, sleet, wind, ice, heat, sun, busy schedule, fatigue, and so on. They are my companions especially as I now spend most of my waking hours alone on disability. They are there when I need a hug or someone to talk to. Sampson is my shadow. Josie is my loyal one. The joy they bring to me far out weighs their cost and maintenance. They keep loneliness at bay and get me out into the world even if only to make a trip around the block or down a remote trail. I am sincerely grateful for my old dogs for walking me through life.
