Driving past the lumber mill I noticed the stacked logs along the highway were being processed. These logs have been there for years. Every week I drove past and thought, “I really need to take a picture of those.” One day the sun was just right and it would have been a WOW picture; I didn’t have my camera. I began carrying a camera along for the ride in hopes of catching that perfect picture again. With it on the seat beside me, I was devastated to see one-fourth of the pile was gone. The plant was finally processing the logs I had driven past for years and failed to take a moment to capture.
This New Year’s Eve I wonder how many log piles in my life I have missed out on, taking for granted they would be there tomorrow. These missed opportunities I may never have again. It takes effort to remember the camera and take the photograph. It takes time to realize an opportunity. This photo is gone, a moment not captured in time. It is up to me to seize the opportunities there for the taking in my life.
Happy New Year to Everyone! May 2014 be the best for us all.
